THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAR RUBY (K Minnie) was stubborn loading. b) AUCTION CHANT (T Gould) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride. c) STEPITUPBABY (*K Strydom) was nervous and slow away losing one length. d) CINNABAR (*Y Ramzan) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey T Gould reported that he felt something amiss with AUCTION CHANT in running and eased the filly out of the race at the 700m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey L Hewitson reported that IZZE KLOTH did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the performance of PRINCESS ZENA (G Cheyne), (distance 4,40 lengths, betting 47/20), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer A C Greeff was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of PRINCESS ZENA on return to stables. d) VERY CAVALLARI (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
