THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOWTIME BABY (C Maujean) was nervous. b) SFORZANDO (*L J Ferraris) was stubborn loading. c) RAINCAP (AUS) (*K Strydom) and FULFORD (S Khathi) were slow losing one length. d) RED BERRY (G Cheyne) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WINTER PEACE (M van Rensburg) over-raced in the early stages. b) QUEEN LOUISE (L Hewitson) hung in from the 400m. c) Apprentice K Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with RAINCAP (AUS) in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Apprentice L J Ferraris reported that SFORZANDO did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck CIANNA more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Ndlovu signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R750 was imposed. f) RED BERRY (G Cheyne), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM).
