QUINLAN, which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly losing one length. CUBAN EMERALD jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. MASTER'S SPIRIT was slow into stride. In view of the performance from STARFLASH, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. In view of the performance of PRINCE ALFRED, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. VINCENTE took an awkward stride at about the 800m. PILLAR OF HERCULES was awkwardly placed on the heels of PHELAN LUCKY (AUS) in the concluding stages. PHELAN LUCKY (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey van der Merwe rode LOVE TO FLY. This change was made with Stewards permission and with the mutual consent of all the connections due to the change of Ownership. PRINCE ALFRED raced fitted with ear muffs. The Ownership of LOVE TO FLY should read: Messrs F M Carruthers, B R Nel, G R Puller & Ian Robinson; and the Colours are: Cerise and white checks, white cap. Vet: STARFLASH and PRINCE ALFRED - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. VINCENTE - returned having cast the left fore shoe in running.
