THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DE BULL (C Zackey) was reluctant to load, had to loaded without the rider, causing a delay b) WORDSWORTH (*J Solomons) jumped awkwardly inwards and brushed the left front gate leaving the stalls. c) DUKE'S GEM (J Bekker) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. d) EMPIRE GLORY (*X Jacobs) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DE BULL (C Zackey), Trainer AN Marcus will be advised to have this gelding re schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. b) DOUBLE CHARGE (A Domeyer), which was hanging in from the 300m, was shifted in away from the heels of ALPHA PAPPA (K de Melo) at the 150m. c) At the 100m EMPIRE GLORY (*X Jacobs) had to be steadied and switched out to avoid the heels of FREEDOM PARK (S Mbhele) which rolled in slightly. KHAL DROGO (G Cheyne) which was racing on the inside of EMPIRE GLORY (*X Jacobs) was momentarily inconvenienced as a consequence. Jockey S Mbhele appeared before the Board and was advised to react sooner when straightening his mounts in similar circumstances. d) DUKE'S GEM (J Bekker) raced green. e) ALPHA PAPPA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised. (CvA) f) FORT RED, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
