IN REM was nervous in the stalls. PACIFIC SPIRIT was nervous in stalls, broke open the front gate, which was reloaded and lost 1 length. Jockey Zechner reported that he felt something amiss with ISPHAN in the running and he did not persevere with his ride from the 200 metre mark. ARCTIC BLAST was tightened for galloping room on the inside running rail when IN REM switched inward to continue his run at approximately 150 metre mark. When assessing the penalty the Stewards formed the opinion that the interference suffered was on the low end of the scale. Jockey Steyn singed an Admission of Guilt for the contravention in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ARCTIC BLAST approaching the 150 metre mark whilst riding IN REM. He was given a Warning. VARSITY CUP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ISPHAN - not striding out in front. SPRING STEEL and ORIENTAL TIGER - abnormal respiratory noise.
