FOOLS GARDEN and INGABANGABONGA were slow into stride. CHAPARRAL'S LADY was forced to ease off the heels of MONEY BUYS LOVE approaching the 1100m. Jockey Ashby appeared before the Board and was charged with a contravention in that, as the rider of MONEY BUYS LOVE, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference when he shifted inwards at the 1100m. Jockey Ashby signed an Admission of Guilt for the penalty of a warning. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of INGABANGABONGA, appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding and the performance of INGABANGABONGA. He explained that from the 1000m the filly, in his opinion, had shown no interest and this had continued despite his urgings in the straight until the latter stages she commenced to race more responsively. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. After reviewing the patrol films from various angles, the evidence bears out his explanation and the Board will take no further action. LOVE DOVE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: INGABANGABONGA - examined post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
