THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RALPH THE RASCAL (L Hewitson) lost 2 lengths. b) RUNNING FREELY (*J Gates) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 150m, HAMMAM (K de Melo) was carried in by CHATTERTONS KEEPER (A Marcus) which rolled in marginally. b) Apprentice J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse KINGSTON ROCK more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Jacobs the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice J Jacobs struck the horse KINGSTON ROCK the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Jacobs used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. c) Apprentice J Gates reported that he felt something amiss with RUNNING FREELY (3.95 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) KINGSTON ROCK (*J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Muscutt acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CHATTERTONS KEEPER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 19.10.20/10h50). b) VUNDERBAR was ridden by Jockey W Kennedy (advised 21.10.20/7h49). c) HAMMAM Jockey K de Melo weighed out at 54.4kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 53.5kg.
