The start of this Race was delayed due to the 30 minute gap between Races. MIGHTY MERCURY and ILLDRINKTOTHAT lost one length. CADDY MASTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Roberts was questioned with regard to the improved performance of CADDY MASTER compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 22 December 2017. Mr Roberts explained that the fitting of the blinkers tonight, in his opinion contributed to the improvement shown and that this gelding is better suited to distances up to 1400 metres. Mr Roberts undertook to race CADDY MASTER fitted with blinkers and over the shorter distance in future. The Board noted his explanation. TOLTEC shifted in slightly at approximately the 300 metre mark resulting in a tiring MARRIOT becoming cramped. As a result HIT AND RUN was forced out to continue his run. ROY'S TAXI was switched out off the heels of CADDY MASTER, who rolled out from the 100 metre mark. Apprentice Bantam reported that he felt something amiss with MARRIOT and as a result he did not persevere with his mount over the final 150 metres. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine MARRIOT. In view of the performance of MIGHTY MERCURY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. MIGHTY MERCURY raced with a Cornell collar. MARRIOT raced with a tongue tie. Vet: MARRIOT - lame left hind. MIGHTY MERCURY - abnormal respiratory noise. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
