TEVEZ broke through the front gate shortly before the start was effected and a false start was called, which was heard by all the riders and they all attempted to pull up their mounts. However, OLYMPIAN and NAAFER (AUS) were unable to be pulled up, completed the course and were subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon for bolting the course. GRADUATION DAY was pulled up at the 500m. PERCIVAL was pulled up at the 400m. The balance of the field were all taken under control and returned to the start, with the exception of SEARCH PARTY, who dislodged the rider on the way back to the start, bolted back to the parade ring and was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. LIVE LIFE cast the left fore shoe on the way back to the start which the farrier replaced. In view of the performance from LA FAVOURARI, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. SERGEANT HARDY and TRIP TO HEAVEN were was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Colours of the Owners of TEVEZ should read: White and blue halved horizontally, pink sleeves, blue cap. The Ownership of GRADUATION DAY should read: Messrs J A Soma, L M Nestadt, M J, M L & M P Sham, J R van der Linden, L A Wainstein & Ms S Wilson; and the Colours are: Black, yellow sash, white sleeves and cap (sold with engagement). The Ownership of BRUTAL FORCE should read: Messrs F H McGrath & A J van Huyssteen; and the Colours are: Dayglo yellow, purple spots (sold with engagement). Vet: LA FAVOURARI - was inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: ALWAYS IN CHARGE - Stipendiary Stewards permission. SEARCH PARTY - bolted the course, withdrawn by Veterinary Surgeon. NAAFER (AUS) and OLYMPIAN - bolted, withdrawn by Veterinary Surgeon.
