THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KURT'S APPROVAL (P Strydom) and PERFECT LIGHT (L Hewitson) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) BELLAGIO KING (C Habib) and PASSION PEACH (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) BOLD MATADOR (C Storey) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, KURT'S APPROVAL (P Strydom) and TURF MASTER (R Danielson) came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between PERFECT LIGHT (L Hewitson), which jumped out, and PASSION PEACH (K Matsunyane), which jumped in. b) IRON BORN (*N Klink) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. c) LORD MELBOURNE (C Zackey) hung out from the 300m. d) Jockey J Greyling reported BOUNCING TIGGER did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey C Storey reported BOLD MATADOR made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) LORD MELBOURNE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (LN).
