QUEEN OF SWING was slow into stride losing 1 length. THE GARDNER GIRL was restless in the stalls and was slow into stride losing 2 lengths. QUAKESHAKE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JAYDEN'S SHREYA was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. Jockey Marcus, the rider of FONTEYN, reported that his saddle slipped sideways shortly after the start and as a result was unable to fully assist his mount thereafter. SPIRIT BIRD was hanging out throughout, shifted out on the latter part of the bend carrying QUERARI STAR outwards. This resulted in QUERARI STAR having to switch in to obtain a clear run. Thereafter QUERARI STAR was switched in again at approximately the 300 metre mark. JAYDEN'S SHREYA was steadied at approximately the 150 metre mark. BLACK SOUTHEASTER was momentarily inconvenienced at approximately the 200 metre mark and thereafter switched in for a clear run. In view of the performance of QUEEN OF SWING, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Apprentice Arries appeared before the Board with regard to his use of the crop on QUEEN OF SWING when this filly was out of contention. FONTEYN did not race fitted with ear-muffs. BLACK SOUTHEASTER raced with her tongue tied down. Vet: QUEEN OF SWING - nothing obvious detected.
