Y'RETHEONE and MARCH PREVIEW were slow into stride. PUTCHINI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer van Wyk was questioned regarding the improved performance of PUTCHINI, was compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 26.1.2018. The only explanation he could offer was that the previous run was the second run after a lay off which had, in his opinion, accounted for that performance. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to "in and out" running. MARCH PREVIEW stumbled leaving the starting stalls and made contact with LUCKY VEIL. Jockey Mgudlwa reported MARCH PREVIEW took no interest in running. Jockey Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with LUCKY VEIL and as a result he did not persevere with his ride in the closing stages. Apprentice Arries, rider of ROY'S MARCIANO, accompanied by the Riding Master, appeared before the Board with regard to his crop use and the placement thereof in the closing stages. STRUMMER raced fitted with his tongue tied down. Vet: LUCKY VEIL and MARCH PREVIEW - nothing obvious detected.
