The start of this Race was delayed due to THE LAST WORD breaking through the front gates, bolting and proving difficult to be taken in hand. NIGHTMARE HELEN and SUCH A RUSH lost one length. EASY PEASY lost two lengths. THE LAST WORD was restless in the stalls, broke through the front gates, dislodged Jockey J Samuel and bolted. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. SUCH A RUSH was stubborn to load, kicked in the stalls and got his foot caught up in the stalls. Removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was re-loaded. BREAKING BARRIERS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. At approximately the 300 metre mark the right side point on the saddle of Apprentice Arries the rider of VICTORIOUS DIVA broke, which resulted in the girth becoming detached from the saddle. Thereafter Apprentice Arries was unable to assist his mount in running. The Stipendiary Board inspected the saddle which was used for the first time and was satisfied that this fault would not have been apparent to the apprentice rider. Riding master, Mr Jupp, was advised to report this incident to the manufacturer and to report back to the Stipendiary Board on their comments. TOMMASO raced green on the bend. In view of the performance of EASY PEASY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. In view of the Starter's report concerning THE LAST WORD, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion.
