The start of this Race was delayed at the request of the Operator. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM on arrival at the start by Jockey Marwing. SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race. Following the inspection of SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM Jockey Marwing elected not to ride this filly as he felt that there was something amiss with her. A replacement rider was sought and no jockey was readily available. SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM was subsequently withdrawn. Trainer Alexander was requested to report back on the condition of SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM on return to the stables. SALMON RUN was restless in the stalls. Trainer Stenger was advised to re-school this filly prior to its next engagement. ROSE WATER lost 1 length. Jockey van der Merwe reported that SALMON RUN did not stride out freely in running. Leaving the 300m, INTHEPURPLERAIN had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the outside of WAITY KATIE, which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter PRETTY BALLERINA was carried out marginally by WAITY KATIE, which continued to shift out away from the crop. Apprentice Lerena, the rider of WAITY KATIE, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take more care when shifting ground in races in future. WAITY KATIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SUPRISE MOVE (NZ) raced in the Colours of Sean Tarry Racing C.C. (Nom: Mr S G Tarry), Mrs B M A Lahoud & Messrs Allan F Peters & Craig Zoghby: Yellow, Fuchsia Stripe, Halved Sleeves, Yellow Cap (sold with engagements). Vet: SALMON RUN - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SHA-BOOM SHA-BOOM - no replacement rider available. PEARL OF BAHRAIN - Stewards permission as accepted to run in a feature race on 3 March 2018.
