The start of this Race was delayed due to the withdrawal of the tote favourite, SEATTLE SILVA at the start. Time was taken to allow the betting public to re-structure their bets. HOUSE OF CARDS was very restless in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. Lost one length. FASHION TREND lost one length. ROY'S NOVICE (AUS) was slow into stride. ROY'S BARBEL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Naidoo was questioned with regard to the improved performance of ROY'S BARBEL compared to this filly's previous performances. Mr Naidoo explained that due to the withdrawal of the favourite, in his opinion, the field was of a weaker calibre tonight. Further the Board noted that ROY'S BARBEL had suffered interference shortly after the start in the previous race. Mr Naidoo's explanation was noted and the future performances of this filly will be monitored. ROY'S BARBEL was hanging in over the final 300 metres and shifted in which resulted in SWEET SHAYNA having to ease off the heels of ROY'S BARBEL approaching the 50 metre mark. Jockey Godden signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, in that as the rider of ROY'S BARBEL, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse SWEET SHAYNA in the latter stages. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. PAMUNKEY and HOUSE OF CARDS took no interest in running. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. In view of the Starter's report concerning HOUSE OF CARDS, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn until re-passed tractable with a companion. FONTEYN raced with ear muffs. Vet: PAMUNKEY - coughing. HOUSE OF CARDS - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SEATTLE SILVA - lame left fore and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
