LAAT LAMMETJIE (AUS) over-raced in the early stages. Apprentice Klink accidentally dropped his crop at the 150m. In view of the performance of THERECANBEONLYONE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. When afforded the opportunity to explain the poor performance from THERECANBEONLYONE. Apprentice Matsunyane in the company of acting Apprentice Welfare Officer Mr Hoffmann, explained to the Board that entering the first turn, this filly had become headstrong and had commenced to over-race which resulted in her racing three wide. Entering the back straight, he had elected to try and improve his position in order to race closer to the rail. Once he had committed to improving his position he realised that the pace was faster than he anticipated. Thereafter this filly tired badly and faded out in the home straight. CRANBERRY CRUSH and SEEKING GOLD were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: THERECANBEONLYONE - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
