COUNTRY ROCK, which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. FAMOUS ORATOR jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. MR GREEN STREET was slow into stride. COUNTRY ROCK and GALLAGHER raced green. MR GREEN STREET which was hanging out and raced awkwardly on the bend, resulting in the bit being pulled through the gelding's mouth at the 1000m and Jockey van Niekerk was unable to fully assist his mount thereafter. Jockey Dillon, the rider of FAMOUS ORATOR, failed to make a post race report to the Stipendiary Steward on duty. Jockey Dillon appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding why he did not ride out to the end of the race. He could offer no explanation. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the colt on its return to the unsaddling enclosure. Jockey Dillon was charged with a contravention in that he failed to ride the horse FAMOUS ORATOR out to the end of the race. Jockey Dillon signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. BOUNTIFUL STRENGTH and FROZEN TUNE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
