The start of the 8th Race was delayed as a result of the false start and thereafter due to the withdrawal of FIRE SONG, the favourite, and to allow for the betting to be re-structured. A false start was called as a result of SECRET STATUS breaking open the gates prematurely. All horses were pulled up before the 1300 metre mark - with the exception of SANDCASTLE and returned to the start. Examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and FIRE SONG and SANDCASTLE were scratched. SHERMAN, GLITTERROCK, SECRET STATUS and HIGH RANGE all lost 1 length. SHERMAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. A race review was called regarding the start of this race and after reviewing the patrol videos of the start the Stipendiary Board was of the view that LORD OF GLENCOE had broken the front gates open prematurely and had gained an advantage over the field. In terms of Rule 61.6.11 LORD OF GLENCOE was declared a non-runner. SECRET STATUS was sold with engagement and the Ownership to read: International Racing Club (Nom: M de Haast) (Messrs J da Mata & C Fenwick); and the Colours are: green, bright yellow V bib, black collar, red and blue halved sleeves, white cap (change of ownership registered 16.3.2018). Scratched: DANTE'S ROCK - sold without engagement. SANDCASTLE - galloped to 900 metre mark as a result of false start and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. FIRE SONG - galloped to the 1300 metre mark as a result of false start and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. LORD OF GLENCOE - declared a non-runner. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
