There was a delay to the start of the 7th Race due to the previous race delay and Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of HEART OF A LEGEND re-weighing due to change of girth in his saddle equipment. There was a further delay as a result of the farrier having to replace the left front shoe on ART ATTACK at the start. HEART OF A LEGEND, MISS TRUST and CELESTIAL GOLD were slow into stride. CONNECT ME lost 1 length. SHIFTING GEARS jumped awkwardly losing 1 length. ROY'S PONY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. HEART OF A LEGEND shifted out sharply away from the crop resulting in DINNER DATE having to be checked and losing position at approximately the 150 metre mark. As a result MINNIE THE MOOCHER was carried outwards. This incident is to be reviewed by the Stipendiary Board. Jockey van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with DINNER DATE in running. Jockey Samuel reported CELESTIAL GOLD making an abnormal respiratory noise post-race. Vet: DINNER DATE - nothing obvious detected. CELESTIAL GOLD - not striding out right fore. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. Race 8 was abandoned due to strong winds that prevailed during this time that caused a large section of the inside running rail to collapse. The ground staff had difficulty in reinstating the rail in place due to the strong winds. Furthermore, the weather deteriorated in that lightning and thunder prevailed in the vicinity of the racecourse.
