THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROMANESCA (D Schwarz) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, FERRARI ICE (K de Melo) was squeezed out between TAMBORA (S Moodley) and THE GHAN (A Marcus) who came together. This resulted in THE GHAN (A Marcus) becoming unbalanced and turned outwards. b) Approaching the 800, FERRARI ICE (K de Melo) was bumped out by TRANSONIC (W Agrella) who over-raced, proving difficult to assist. c) SOVEREIGN SOLDIER (*J Gates) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. d) TAMBORA (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages. e) Jockey L Hewitson reported that he felt something amiss with HIGHER PURPOSE (29.00 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of THE GHAN (A Marcus) (17.70 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) TAMBORA (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) HIGHER PURPOSE : Cut into left hind. b) THE GHAN : Nothing obvious detected. c) ROMANESCA : Coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
