The start of this Race was delayed due to the thirty minute interval between Races 1 and 2. BELTON ROAD (AUS) and MASTER MAGIC lost one length. SMALL CHANGE over-raced in the early stages. BELTON ROAD (AUS) over-raced in the early and middle stages. In view of the performance of BELTON ROAD (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Assistant Trainer de Kock was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables. When questioned regarding his riding of BELTON ROAD (AUS), Jockey Lerena explained to the Board that this colt had jumped awkwardly, thereafter he had attempted to encourage him forward and he had ended up taking hold of the bit and over-racing. As a result of this, he raced wide around the turn and tired in the straight. Apprentice Hewitson reported that he felt something amiss with FLATTLEY in running. Approaching the 300m, MASTER MAGIC and PERFACT were carried by ATYAAB (AUS), which shifted in sharply. MASTER MAGIC was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MASTER MAGIC is a gelding, gelded 19 December 2017. To be investigated. Vet: BELTON ROAD (AUS) - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. FLATTLEY - nasal discharge. Scratched: TUDOR MANOR - shin sore.
