THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, FROZEN PALACE (*P Mxoli) kicked the back gates, resulting in MILITARY QUEST (D De Gouveia) breaking through the front gates. MILITARY QUEST (D De Gouveia) was returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. Trainer F P Habib was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) RED GOLD MOON (*J Gates) was stubborn loading and thereafter was restless in the stalls. c) ANEKSI (G Lerena) was restless in the stalls and thereafter was slow losing one length. d) SERGEANT YORK (P Strydom) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. e) MILITARY QUEST (D De Gouveia), FROZEN PALACE (*P Mxoli) and FORT COMMANDER (B Nyawo) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) REGENCY BALL (*J R Syster) hung out from the 500m. b) SONNY QUINN (C Zackey) shifted out away from the crop from the 250m. c) Apprentice K Matsunyane reported ARRAN (3,50 lengths) changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Apprentice J Gates reported RED GOLD MOON made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Apprentice P Mxoli reported FROZEN PALACE (10,00 lengths) changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) ANEKSI (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Terzi advised (AH). g) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck ANEKSI more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000-00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and the fact that he won the race. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) REGENCY BALL raced unshod (declared 23 October 2020 at 14H41). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ARRAN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) RED GOLD MOON examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) FROZEN PALACE examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
