TEUTONIC KNIGHT stubborn, reluctant, hooded, kicked, refused to load, intractable, was withdrawn, c(AUS)ing a delay. PURPLE MOUNTAINS jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. In view of the report from the Starter concerning TEUTONIC KNIGHT, Trainer Stewart will be advised that this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. In view of the performance from RED EIGHT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. At the 200m, READY STEADY GO had to ease and switch out to avoid the heels of STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH, which was hanging in and shifted in. Apprentice Mbhele was charged with a contravention in that he, as the rider of STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to READY STEADY GO when he shifted in at about the 200m. Apprentice Mbhele signed an Admission of Guilt for the penalty of a Warning. STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Club's Medical Officer stood down Jockey Andrews for the remainder of the day after the running of this race on medical grounds. Vet: RED EIGHT - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: TEUTONIC KNIGHT - intractable, withdrawn at the start.
