The start of the 2nd Race was delayed due to the veterinary surgeon examining PERPETUAL FLAME at the start and the subsequent scratching of this gelding. PATHS OF VICTORY and RUMBLEINTHEJUNGLE were both slow into stride. KIRAV'S TUNE was restless in the stalls. CLIFTON CRUSHER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CHECKPOINT CHARLIE over-raced in the early and middle stages. FIREFOOT was hanging in over the final 150 metres. JOHN SNOW over-raced in the early stages and as a result raced wide on the bend and into the straight. In view of the performance of KIRAV'S TUNE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. KIRAV'S TUNE raced with his tongue tied down. Vet: KIRAV'S TUNE - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: PERPETUAL FLAME - examined at the start, lame left fore. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
