The start of this Race was delayed due to PICTURE ME entering the parade ring late. EMPRESS VALLEY (NZ), RHYME OR REASON and THE DRIVER lost one length. In deciding what action to take against Trainer van Vuuren with regard to PICTURE ME, the Board gave due regard to him having three runners to saddle in this race. However, he will be advised to take all reasonable measures in order to ensure that his horses are presented in the parade ring timeously in future. Apprentice Mjoka was dislodged from RHYME OR REASON shortly after the finish line and was unable weigh back in. The Board deemed Apprentice Mjoka's weight to be correct. Jockey Zackey, the rider of KINDAVAR, and Jockey de Melo, the rider of PICTURE ME, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. In the concluding stages, KICK BUTT had to ease severely when awkwardly placed between SILVEZ, which shifted out away from the crop and REGAL GIRL which was hanging in and proved difficult to assist from the top of the straight. Trainer Erasmus appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to take all reasonable measures to ensure that REGAL GIRL does not behave in a similar manner in races in future. KENTUCKY BLUE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PICTURE ME raced without a tongue tie. Vet: KINDAVAR and PICTURE ME - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
