THE STARTER REPORTED: a) APOLLO ACE (*X Jacobs) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WHAT A WINNER (G Cheyne) was carried out marginally when AQUA BOLT (A Marcus) shifted out and had to be straightened. b) Shortly before the finish, WHAT A WINNER (G Cheyne) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DRAGON POWER (*J Solomons) which changed stride and shifted in abruptly. As a consequence, Jockey G Cheyne was unable to ride WHAT A WINNER to the finish. Apprentice Solomons appeared before the Board and was severely reprimanded and advised to react sooner to keep his mount on a straight course in future. c) APOLLO ACE (*X Jacobs) ducked out away from the inside running rail at the finish. d) Jockey D Dillon, the rider of AL BRAGGA, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of ASHFORD CASTLE, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) MISTER VARGUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
