DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, ROYAL MAZARIN WAS RESTLESS AND REARED IN THE STARTING STALLS. AS A RESULT OF THIS ACTION, THIS COLT GOT ITS LEFT FRONT LEG STUCK IN THE FRONT GATES. ROYAL MAZARIN WAS RELEASED FROM THE STALLS, INSPECTED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) During the loading process, ROYAL MAZARIN reared in the stalls, became unruly and injured itself. This colt was subsequently scratched by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. The Starting Stall Certificate for ROYAL MAZARIN has been withdrawn.
b) JUMEIRAH GOLD (*L J Ferraris) was slow into stride.
c) MOON JUMPER (G van Niekerk) was stubborn loading. The Starting Stall Certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn.
d) BARTHOLDI (A Domeyer) stumbled leaving the stalls.
e) MCEBISI (S Brown) was stubborn loading.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ROYAL MAZARIN, this colt has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 1 November 2020 to 7 November 2020. ROYAL MAZARIN may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer A Nassif advised (GT).
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to MOON JUMPER, this gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 Days and until such time as it proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 1 November 2020 to 7 November 2020. MOON JUMPER may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer J A Soma advised (GT).
c) Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse SEA VIRESCENT more than twelve times in the entire race. A penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (16) and Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline.
d) PAISLEY PARK (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (LN).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
None.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) AL QAASIM raced equipped with steel bar shoes in front and steels behind (declared 28 October 2020 at 07H58).
b) BLACK THORN raced without alumites and equipped with steel shoes (declared 31 October 2020 at 05H17).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS.

a) SMUTS and DURBAN BOY reserve runners. Advised 31 October 2020 at 08H16.
b) ROYAL MAZARIN injured in stalls (NHA / 12H47) (Rule 53.5 applies) Betting 100/1.
