PURE LOGIC and OBVIOUS CHILD were slow into stride. MARK MY CARD lost three lengths. TOP CLASSMAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Robinson was questioned with regard to the improved performance of TOP CLASSMAN compared to this colt's previous performance on the 25 March 2018. Mr Robinson explained that this colt was unsuited to the good to soft underfoot track condition that prevailed on the day. He further stated that TOP CLASSMAN raced wide in his previous start which, in his opinion, had accounted to this colt's previous poor performance. The Board noted this explanation. DISCOURSE over-raced in the early and middle stages, raced wide in the early stages and thereafter from the 1000 metre mark, and compounded in the closing stages. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Wrogemann the rider of RIO DE LA PLATA reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in the closing stages. PURE LOGIC over-raced for a short distance near the 2000 metre mark. GREAT RUMPUS shifted out away from the crop near the 50 metre mark. Thereafter GREAT RUMPUS shifted out slightly away from the crop at the finish resulting in MAIN PLAYER being eased off the heels of GREAT RUMPUS. Apprentice De Gouveia the rider of GREAT RUMPUS appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take more care to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. TOP CLASSMAN raced in Club Colours. Vet: DISCOURSE and RIO DE LA PLATA - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ROOT BEER - coughing.
