THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ABSOLUTIST (A Arries) and THE VILLA GRAND (M Yeni) were slow losing one length. b) MYNAGE (D De Gouveia) jumped inwards and MK'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Maujean reported that SWISS BANK made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) ABSOLUTIST (A Arries) hung in from the 300m. c) MK'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 200m. d) Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse WAR OF ATHENA more than twelve times in the entire race. A penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (16), the status of the race and Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline. e) MK'S PRIDE (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
