En-route to the start AUTUMN ANNIE fly-jumped and was unruly injuring Jockey Agrella. Thereafter a replacement rider was weighed out and then preceded to the start. This caused a delay to the start of this race. BOLD EMBLEM jumped outwards leaving the stalls. JULIETTE'S WAY was bumped shortly after the start. KING'S TIMBER was stubborn loading. JULIETTE'S WAY over-raced in the early stages. Jockey Munger reported that SUPERSLEW did not stride out freely in running. Approaching the entrance to the back stretch, AUTUMN ANNIE ducked in sharply and was immediately straightened. AUTUMN ANNIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of AUTUMN ANNIE, Assistant Trainer Oosthuizen could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. CLEVER MOVE raced with a tongue tie on. KING'S TIMBER raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: SUPERSLEW - not striding out both hind. Scratched: FLIP SIDE - eye infection. DIAMONDS and DIOR - bolted the course, injuring itself. MAROOCHY'S GIRL - lame both front. After receiving medical treatment from his injury in race 4, the stipendiary board allowed Jockey Agrella to continue riding.
