The start of this race was delayed due to SAMURAI DRAGON and SLAM DUNK refusing to load and subsequently being scratched by the starter. PILOTHOUSE, DAN THE MAN and MR HARDY were slow into stride. SLAM DUNK refused to load. SAMURAI DRAGON refused to load. In view of the Starter's report and the starting stalls history of SAMURAI DRAGON, this gelding has been suspended for a period of 30 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading into the stalls. In view of the Starter's report with regarding SLAM DUNK, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable loading into the stalls. Jockey Penny reported that DAN THE MAN made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running and he did not persevere with his ride in the closing stages. Jockey Ndlovu reported that TIN TAN was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Ndlovu signed an admission of guilt in that he used his crop with excessive frequency whilst riding the horse TIN TAN. ROYAL APPLAUSE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
