Light rain fell during the running of this race. ADALBERTO was unruly, nervous, reared in the stalls, slow away and lost 2 lengths. Trainer Greeff was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. CALL THE CHIEF and NAHOON RIVER were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. IN THE NAVY was slow into stride and lost 1 length. CAPE LEOPARD was squeezed out shortly after the start. Approaching the 200 metre mark, FINLEY HILL brushed the inside running rail and became unbalanced for a stride. BHOWANI JUNCTION was hanging out from the 600 metre mark. Jockey Munger reported that IN THE NAVY did not act in the going. Jockey Penny reported that BARRAT was blowing heavily in the running. Jockey Cheyne reported that ADALBERTO refused to gallop in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Greeff was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on its return to the stables. NATIONAL PARK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ADALBERTO - nothing obvious detected. BARRAT - cast left fore shoe, speedy cut right fore pastern.
