Jockey Fourie, rider of QUICKFIRE reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Assistant Trainer Des McLachlan, acting on behalf of Trainer Kotzen, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of QUICKFIRE when it has returned to the stable. Jockey Wright, rider of VIKING VOYAGE reported that this gelding took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. POWER GRID, which was hanging in throughout, was difficult to assist from the 400m and Jockey Behr was unable to ride the gelding out to the end of the race when awkwardly placed on the heels of NASTY HARRY shortly before the finish. Jockey Behr, rider of POWER GRID reported that this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine POWER GRID on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. BERNIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: POWER GRID - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. QUICKFIRE and VIKING VOYAGE - examined post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: VIRTUE - sold without engagement.
