The start of this Race was slightly delayed due to the late scratching of BILLY SILVER at the start. SERGEANT HARDY was slow into stride. Lost one length. EFFORTLESS REWARD (AUS) lost one length. ISCA and MUJALLAD (AUS) were slow into stride. HASHTAG STRAT and LA FERRARI were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Goosen was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HASHTAG STRAT compared to this filly's previous performance. Trainer Goosen explained that this filly had over-raced and had run too freely in that race when challenged when leading and as a result had compounded in the closing stages. This explanation was noted. SERGEANT HARDY was slow into stride losing one length and thereafter jumped outwards making contact with the hindquarters of ISCA and becoming unbalanced losing position. At approaching the 800 metre mark EFFORTLESS REWARD (AUS) shifted out slightly off the heels of LA FERRARI carrying SWAKOPMUND outwards. This resulted in ISCA, FINCHATTON and MY PAL AL making contact and becoming momentarily unbalanced. CAPTAIN'S GIRL was hanging in, in the closing stages. SERGEANT HARDY was switched to the outside to continue his run at approximately the 800 metre mark. In view of the performance of SERGEANT HARDY the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. SWAKOPMUND raced with ear muffs. Vet: SERGEANT HARDY - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: BILLY SILVER - not striding out right fore.
