THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE AND THE LATE SCRATCHING OF GRADUATION DAY. As the start was affected TORRE DEL ORO threw its head down and thereafter jumped awkwardly, dislodging Apprentice D Schwarz. MOMBELA lost 2 lengths. A race review was called into the start of this race and it was established that TORRE DEL ORO, in stall gate number 3, had thrown its head down as the start was effected, resulting in this gelding jumping awkwardly and Apprentice Schwarz being dislodged. The Stipendiary Board was satisfied that this was due to TORRE DEL ORO'S own behaviour and that it had not been impeded by a handler, the gates had opened on terms and therefore took no further action. AMAZING STRIKE was hanging in in the concluding stages. Jockey van Rensburg, the rider of JUST AS I SAID, briefly dropped his left side rein in the concluding stages. Shortly before the finish line ALWAHSH (NZ), which was hanging in, had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of ARABIAN BEAT and as a consequence of this Jockey Zackey was unable to fully ride out ALWAHSH (NZ). Jockey Zackey reported that ALWAHSH (NZ) made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. ARABIAN BEAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CHAMPAGNE HAZE raced without a tongue tie. AMAZING STRIKE raced equipped with a Cornell collar. PUNTA CANA is a gelding. Vet: MOMBELA - abnormal respiratory noise. ALWAHSH (NZ) - no respiratory noise detected post race. Scratched: GRADUATION DAY - lame right front. GOLDEN MAN - heat left front foot.
