THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, DO ANGELS CRY dislodged Jockey A Domeyer, the saddle slipped sideways and had to be re fitted, causing a delay. b) CAPE BATIS (K Sakayi) was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck EN GARDE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Zackey signed an admission of guilt and was fined R 750,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Zackey's recent record with regards to this Rule and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level b) REGINA ISABELLA (R Fourie) was hanging out throughout. c) REGINA ISABELLA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
