At approximately the 1200m, LEMON DROP SHOT had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of STARS AND BAR which rolled out marginally. Leaving the 300m, ROYAL ITALIAN was carried out marginally by BIEN VENUE which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. Apprentice Ferraris reported that STARS AND BARS did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. SOQRAT (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LEMON DROP SHOT is a bay colt and not a chestnut colt as carded. Vet: SOQRAT (AUS) - mouth injury. STARS AND BARS - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: EPIC DREAM - abnormal temperature and off feed. ON THE DOUBLE - insufficient recovery time
