The start of this race was delayed due to MISTY LIGHT proving reluctant to canter to the start and having to be led by a Handler. AGAINST THE GRAIN was slow into stride. MISTY LIGHT proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer Matchett was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. MISTY LIGHT was hanging out from the 300m. Jockeys Greyling, rider of URBAN BEAT and Khan, rider of JET JOHNSON reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. Shortly after the start NAWAASI was awkwardly placed between SHARP GITANO and AFRICAN MAGIC. ATOMIC KITTEN commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. BENJI was hanging in from the 300m. BENJI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey van der Hoven signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that he failed to report to the Clerk of Scales at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of Race 3, in which he was engaged to ride URBAN BEAT. BENJI raced without a tongue tie. Vet: URBAN BEAT and JET JOHNSON - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. NAWAASI - mouth injury.
