THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VENI VIDI VICCI (G Cheyne) jumped awkwardly, made contact with SUPERIOR LEADER (G van Niekerk), lost one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) GALLIC TRIBE (D Dillon) was slow into stride. c) GRAND VISION (S Moodley) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GRAND VISION (S Moodley), Trainer SJ Snaith will be advised to have this gelding re schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. b) ADIOS AMIGOS (A Domeyer) had to steady off the heels of MR FROSTIE (D Ashby) when MR FROSTIE (D Ashby) rolled in leaving the 800m. Jockey Ashby appeared before the Board and was advised to be more aware of runners to his inside in similar circumstances. c) VENI VIDI VICCI (G Cheyne) was hanging out in the straight. d) In view of the performance of TRACKER JACKER (*X Jacobs), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) Jockey D Ashby, the rider of MR FROSTIE, reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck GRAND VISION more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Moodley signed an admission of guilt and was fined R 1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Moodley's recent record with regards to this Rule and the number of strikes over the permissible level (14). g) ADIOS AMIGOS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Arnold was advised.
