STATE STAR (IRE) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. THEREAFTER MAPLE SYRUP pulled its left front shoe en-route to the start which was attended to by the Course Farrier. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this race. STATE STAR (IRE) and LET IT FLOW lost one length. STATE STAR (IRE) was reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. In view of this filly's previous history, she was suspended until such time as she proves tractable cantering to the start on a race day. Jockey Danielson was charged with a contravention (read in conjunction with Guideline N - hitting a HORSE on any part of its head) in that he struck STATE STAR (IRE) on the head with his hand en-route to the start. The saddle on STATE STAR (IRE) slipped back in running which confirmed by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. Apprentice Hewitson reported that IMAGE AWARD made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. PRETTY PENNY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: IMAGE AWARD - no respiratory noise detected post-race. Scratched: VIVIR - pulled hind muscle.
