BLACK SAIL reared in the stalls, stuck the front gates open with its front legs, dislodged the rider, bolted, and was subsequently withdrawn. GIANT FLAG and ROCHESTER jumped awkwardly and thereafter were slow into stride. The start of this race was rescheduled, to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets, after BLACK SAIL (tote favourite 47/10) was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. In view of the report from the Starter regarding BLACK SAIL, Trainer Crawford will be advised that this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. Apprentice Hewitson, rider of BURANO reported that this gelding faltered on a number of occasions and as a result did not persevere with his riding from the top of the straight. SILVER LEAGUE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BURANO - examined post race and no significant findings were detected. SACRED NIGHT - returned with an overreach on the left fore. Scratched: BLACK SAIL - injured in stalls, mouth injury and cut on the right front.
