THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NITZRAM (J Penny) was slow losing one length. b) PRINCE JORDAN (C Storey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Storey reported he felt something amiss with PRINCE JORDAN in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) ELIUD (D Schwarz) hung in from the 400m. c) PACK LEADER (S Khumalo), in stall gate number 8, was led into the starting stalls with a lead rope. The handler assigned to this gelding failed to remove the lead rope timeously, resulting in PACK LEADER (S Khumalo) racing throughout with the lead rope attached to its head gear. The handler assigned to PACK LEADER (S Khumalo) was questioned by Stipendiary Board regarding this incident, he explained to the Board that once he had led this gelding into the starting stalls he lifted himself onto the middle partition of the starting stalls and as a result, lost his grip on the lead rope. The Stipendiary Board was of the opinion that this action by the Handler was was purely accidental, but did draw the handler's attention to the potential serious consequences of this type of incident and that it should not recur. d) PACK LEADER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BOLD MATADOR raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 3 November 2020 14H12). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PRINCE JORDAN mild post race distress. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
