The start of this Race was delayed due to QUEEN'S PLAIN (W Kennedy) proving difficult to saddle and consequently leaving the parade ring late with stable companion WYLIE'S WONDER (*M Zuma). Thereafter this Race was further delayed due to CHANTY LANE (A Marcus) becoming fractious in the stalls, being removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was withdrawn. The remainder of the field were unloaded in order to allow the betting public time to re-structure their bets. THE STARTER REPORTED: a)HAREER (*K Brewer) lost 1 length. b)CHANTY LANE (A Marcus) reared in the stalls, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a)The manners of QUEEN'S PLAIN whilst it was in the saddling area, were considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable, Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised to take all reasonable measures to ensure that there is not a similar occurrence in future. b)In view of the Starter's report with regard to CHANTY LANE (A Marcus), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 09.11.20 to the 15.11.20. CHANTY LANE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer W Whitehead was advised. (SN) c)WISHFUL GIRL LINN (*J Jacobs) was hanging out from the 400m. d)HEREINAFTER (D Dillon) was hanging out from the 350m. e)Jockey G Wright (HOT MONEY) appeared before the Board and was advised to ride his mounts out to the end of the Race so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. He was further advised that whilst he held his position in this race, should a similar incident occur in the near future, a more severe sanction will be imposed. Additionally, Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse HOT MONEY more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey G Wright struck the horse HOT MONEY, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey G Wright used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. f)Trainer W Badenhorst appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of CLASS OF EIGHT (*K Strydom) compared to this mare's previous performance on the 30 September 2020. Trainer W Badenhorst was unable to provide any suitable explanation for the poor performance. In light of this mare's consistent form prior to its last run, the Board will monitor the performances of this mare in the near future. g)CLASS OF EIGHT (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
