The start of this Race was slightly delayed due to the lead pony casting a shoe en route to the start which had to be found and removed from the track. IT'S MY TURN and HERMOSO MUNDO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. At approximately the 2600 metre mark KITTY'S DESTINY broke down and was eased out of the running. This resulted in DESERT WISDOM clipping the heels of KITTY'S DESTINY, stumbling and being forced very wide. Jockey Thackeray the rider of DESERT WISDOM (distance) reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding and as a result eased his mount out the Race at approximately the 600 metre mark. Jockey Van Rensburg the rider of FRIKKIE reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. At approximately the 300 metre mark WILD WICKET was hanging out, shifted out sharply, carrying ONE DIRECTION and ONE MAN SHOW outwards. ONE DIRECTION was hanging in throughout. In view of the performances of LET IT RAIN and WITCHCRAFT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Jockey Fayd'Herbe, whilst riding HERMOSO MUNDO, used his crop with excessive frequency in the closing stages. Vet: KITTY'S DESTINY - broke down left hind. Euthanased. Specimens were taken for analysis. WITCHCRAFT, DESERT WISDOM and FRIKKIE - nothing obvious detected. LET IT RAIN - not striding out right hind. STRATHDON - fatigued.
