The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of HIDEAWAY (AUS) by the course veterinary surgeon. HIDEAWAY (AUS) was restless in the stalls injuring itself. Trainer Peter was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement (GT). MASTER BOULDER lost two lengths. PRINCE JORDAN jumped outwards leaving the stalls and TIME TO BE GREAT jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Shortly after the start, PRINCE JORDAN and TIME TO BE GREAT came together and bumped. Apprentice Mjoka, the rider of CRIMSON MAGIC, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. Jockey van der Hoven reported that he felt something amiss with CANNES in running and did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. MINNESOTA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PIUS OIL raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: PRINCE JORDAN - not striding out right hind. LAZARUS TREE - abnormal respiratory noise. CANNES - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. PIUS OIL - mouth injury. Scratched: HIDEAWAY (AUS) - injured in the stalls.
