THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the concluding stages, CHERRY ROAD (W Kennedy) which was hanging in from the 400m, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of EIGHTFOLDS LASS (L Hewitson) which rolled out when Jockey L Hewitson changed his hold shortly before the finish. As a consequence of this incident, Jockey W Kennedy was unable to assist CHERRY ROAD to the end of the race. Jockey L Hewitson appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident, was shown the patrol films of the race and reminded that despite CHERRY ROAD hanging in, his obligations when shifting ground remained. Accordingly, he was advised to take more care in future. b) Jockey L Hewitson reported that EIGHTFOLDS LASS coughed in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) EIGHTFOLDS LASS (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo advised (ML).
