THE STARTER REPORTED A) MARY LEE was nervous in the stalls. B) TURKISH LIRA was slow away and lost 2 lengths. C) TRAP QUEEN was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with FIND ME UNAFRAID in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. B) Jockeys K Minnie (TRAP QUEEN) and X Ndlovu (TURKISH LIRA) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) In view of the performance of BEYOND TEMTATION (C Maujean) (distance 7.25 - betting 22/10) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. D) Jockey S Naidoo (FALLING FOR YOU) appeared before the Board and when questioned with regards to his ride on FALLING FOR YOU, he explained to the Board that his instructions were to take this gelding to the front and use his action to maintain a steady gallop. Jockey S Naidoo further added that the addition of the full scoop blinkers had resulted in FALLING FOR YOU racing keener than anticipated, proving difficult to settle and that this had resulted in FALLING FOR YOU compounding from the 300m. Jockey S Naidoo's explanation was noted. E) Apprentice L J Ferraris was stood down by the Course Medical Officer after the running of this race due to an ankle sprain, rule 25.12 does not apply. F) The winner MARY LEE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Stable Employee M P Cloete acting on behalf of Trainer S B Kotzen advised (LM). THERE WERE NO JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) FALLING FOR YOU speedy cut left fore.
