The start of this Race was slightly delayed due to the farrier having to replace the left front shoe on UNBELIEVABLE LAD at the start. DELIRIOUS NOMAD lost one length. SYLVESTER THE CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Kotzen was questioned with regard to the improved performance of SYLVESTER THE CAT, the winner, compared to this gelding's previous performance. AFRICAN PHARAOH raced wide in the early stages and thereafter was hanging in and shifted inwards in the straight. FIELDMARSHAL FENIX was hanging in throughout and shifted in slightly near the 800 metre mark resulting in UNBELIEVABLE LAD being cramped and inconvenienced. Jockey Kennedy the rider of DIAMOND NOIR reported this mare not striding out freely in the closing stages. In view of the performance of UNBELIEVABLE LAD the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Lerena as the rider of ELUSIVE WOLF, failed to weigh out at the carded weight confirmed in his engagement, resulting in a change of rider. CAPTAIN VON TRAPP raced with ear muffs. Vet: DIAMOND NOIR - nothing obvious detected. UNBELIEVABLE LAD - coughing. Scratched: MASTER OF MISCHIEF - cast in box.
