The bus transporting the officials, jockeys and handlers broke down en-route from Johannesburg to Kimberley. This caused a significant delay to the start of the race meeting. The racing operator in consultation with the stipendiary board re-scheduled all race times. FAIRY RING was slow losing one length. THAT'S ALL and WARSAW were slow into stride. Shortly after the start, THAT'S ALL was bumped inwards by ROYAL DELIGHT which jumped in. LAKE WASHINGTON and WEALTHSMITH were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Ownership of KISSMEBACKFOOT should read: Mr C J Lensley & Ms E L La Grange (colours: red, white braces, checked sleeves and cap, red peak) sold with engagements. CORRIVAL and WARSAW raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. TIME MASTER raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. WEALTHSMITH raced with club colours (blue, black) Stewards permission. Vet: MIESQUE'S SPEED - coughing. Scratched: FLEUR DU CAP - injured in transit.
