COMBAT MUSTER lost 1 length. Jockey Zechner reported that he felt something amiss with SILVER COIN in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 200m. Jockey Strydom reported that in the final 50m of the race DAFFIQ made a severe respiratory noise and he was under the impression that this gelding had either bled or that there was something seriously amiss with it and in the best interests of the horse's welfare, he eased DAFFIQ out of the race. This matter was adjourned until such time as the veterinary report has been received. In the concluding stages LAKE KINNERET, which rolled in marginally, had to steady when awkwardly placed on the outside of WELL CONNECTED, which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. TSITSIKAMMA DANCE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SILVER COIN - not striding out left front. DAFFIQ - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected; no respiratory noise detected post-race. Scratched: STRAWBERRY PAVLOVA - insufficient recovery time.
